I hadn't planned on becoming a psychotherapist, and the path that led me to being one was definitely not a straight line.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Design from the Alberta University of the Arts (2002), then moved to New York where I began my dream career as a Graphic Designer in the magazine publishing industry. Four years later I returned home to Victoria completely burnt out.
I continued to work as a graphic designer, but I also began the hard work of healing from my own past traumas. I realized I wasn't really living—I was still surviving. Through counselling and psychotherapy, I began to remember parts of me that I'd forgotten, and began volunteering and working at a transition house for women and children fleeing violence. I was filled with a new sense of purpose and passion, and went back to school to complete my Masters of Art in Counselling Psychology (2012).
.
Over the next eight years I gained experience working as a registered clinical counsellor for non-profit organizations, and in 2020 I began my private practice. I strive to continue to grow and learn as I receive ongoing professional and personal development and regular consultation. I also enjoy being part of a facilitation team with Lisa Mortimore's Somatic Attachment Psychotherapy trainings.
I am honoured and grateful to have been called to do this work, and I look forward to accompanying you on your healing journey and the paths you travel.
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and a member of The BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I have a Masters of Art in Counselling Psychology (2012) from Yorkville University and a Bachelor of Design (2002) from the Alberta University of the Arts.
