I hadn't planned on becoming a psychotherapist, and the path that led me to becoming one was definitely not a straight line.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Design from the Alberta University of the Arts in 2002, then moved to New York City, where I worked as a graphic designer in the magazine publishing industry for the next four years.
I then returned home to Victoria, and continued to work as a graphic designer, but I also began the hard work of healing from my own past traumas. I realized I wasn't really living—I was surviving. Through counselling, I began to reclaim parts of myself that I thought I had lost. I began volunteering and working at a transition house for women and children fleeing violence, and was filled with a new sense of purpose and passion. I decided to go back to school and completed my Masters of Art in Counselling Psychology in 2012.
.
Over the next eight years I gained experience working as a registered clinical counsellor for non-profit organizations, and in 2020 I opened my private practice.
I strive to continue to grow and learn as I receive ongoing professional and personal development and regular consultation. I also enjoy being part of a facilitation team with Lisa Mortimore's Somatic Attachment Psychotherapy trainings.
I am honoured and grateful to have been called to do this work, and I look forward to accompanying you on your healing journey and the paths you travel.
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with The BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I have a Masters of Art in Counselling Psychology (2012) from Yorkville University, and a Bachelor of Design (2002) from the Alberta University of the Arts.
I am happy to offer referrals if I am unable to accommodate you at this time.
